Tend & Keep started with a grocery bag.
That is what family caregivers end up carrying into appointments: prescriptions, discharge papers, insurance letters, a notebook with three different people's handwriting in it. Smart, organized people who suddenly cannot keep track of a single household.
When you go looking for help, you find two kinds of stores. Medical supply catalogs that treat your parent like a set of measurements. And marketplaces with thousands of generic planners that never answer the question you actually have, which is not "what do you sell." It is "she fell on Tuesday, what do I do now."
What we do differently
We organize by the situation, not the product category. You do not arrive here shopping for paperwork. You arrive because something happened: a fall, a diagnosis, a discharge date. The store is built around what happened.
We keep it current. Medicare, tax and benefit figures in every printable are checked against primary sources (CMS, Medicare.gov, the IRS, the VA) and updated every January. Every product lists its sources.
We explain your rights, not just your paperwork. Discharge appeals, observation status, the Quality Improvement Organization and the long-term care ombudsman, in plain English.
Nothing here is infantilizing. No cartoon fonts, no clip art, no language that talks down to the person being cared for. Dignity is a design requirement, not a marketing line.
Who makes it
Tend & Keep is made by a longtime family caregiver who has lived the hospital stays, appointments and paperwork, and wrote down what they wish they had known. We are not clinicians and we do not pretend to be. Everything here is educational, and none of it replaces your family’s doctors, attorney or insurance plan.
How we make our printables and guides
- Rules and dollar figures come from primary sources: CMS and Medicare.gov, the IRS, the VA, the National Institute on Aging.
- Every product and guide shows the month it was last reviewed.
- Every January we update the figures that change, and you can download the new version.
If something is wrong or out of date, please tell us through the contact page. We fix it and update the file for everyone.
